The Economic Management Support Project (PAGE) is designed in order to build the operational capacities of the chad's public administration in the area of economic management. The project is of key strategic importance for the Government. It aims at (a) improving the management of the development programmes and projects; (b) enhancing the management of the debt; and (c) strengthening of the central system of statistical production and dissemination as well as socio-economic studies. The total cost of the project, net of taxes and customs duties, is estimated at UA 2.55 million, comprising 70.20% in foreign exchange and 29.80% in local currency. It is estimated that the PAGE activities should spread over 24 months starting from the commencement of the supply of goods and services. The project includes (04) components, namely: (i) capacity building in programming, financing and monitoring of development programmes and projects; (ii) public debt management capacity building; (iii) strengthening of the central system of statistical production and dissemination and socio-economic studies, and (iv) project management and monitoring.
The sectoral goal of the project is to contribute to improving economic management with a view to optimising poverty reduction efforts. The specific objects are to build capacities in (i) management of developement programmes and projects; (ii) public debt management; and (iii) production and dissemination of statistics and socio-economic studies.
The main beneficiaries structures of the project are: (i) the Development Programmes and Projects Monitoring Cooperation Department (DCSPPD), (ii) the Debt Department (DD), and (iii) the National Institue of Statistics and Economic and Population Studies (INSEED). The staff of the various departments numbering fifty (50) including seven (07) women and fifty (50) candidates for the competitive exam to the higher institutions of statistics and demographic studies should benefit from qualifying training under the project.
