The Kairouan Integrated Agricultural Development Project (IADP) was designed as part of the Tunisian Government's strategy to improve incomes and improve the living conditions of farmers. It aims to contribute to the reduction of poverty in rural Tunisia. It is a project with a total estimated cost of UA 27.283 million and is planned over a period of 6 years. The Kairouan IADP has three components: (i) Rural Infrastructure Development; (ii) Participatory agricultural development; and (iii) Institutional Strengthening.
The objective of the Kairouan IADP is to promote sustainable agricultural development through the development of agricultural infrastructure, participatory development and institutional strengthening of the administration and beneficiary organizations.
The beneficiaries of the project are the population of the project area is estimated at about 266,000 inhabitants representing 45,000 households, farmers in the area.
