The "Development of the Vision and Water Strategy 2050" project represents relevant support from the AWF to the various actors involved in the water sector in Tunisia. This strategic study of the water sector is in itself an indicator of performance of the PISEAU II project (2nd Water Sector Investment Project). It is also an opportunity to question the technical, human, material, financial and institutions that the country will need to deploy, methodically, to cope with the growing scarcity of water and improve its capacity for adaptation and resilience. The project will enable the Tunisian authorities to have powerful tools for programming investments and activities, which are basic elements for good governance of the sector. It is articulated around the following main components: (i) Construction of the operational framework of the study; (ii) Development of the Vision and Strategy Water 2050; (iii) Preparation of the terms of reference of master plans and action plans. The implementation of the project is planned over a duration of 3 years with a total estimated cost of 1,521,000 Euros.
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to socio-economic development, by securing the availability and access to water resources for Tunisia by 2050 in an efficient, equitable and sustainable manner. The specific objective of the project is to ensure dynamic planning, up to 2050, of development activities and water resources management on the basis of a structured, integrated and participative vision and strategy.
All sectors of the economy will benefit from the implementation of programs and actions emanating from this strategy.
