The present intervention concerns the emergency assistance to weather-affected schools in Nabeul governorate. It aims to upgrade school buildings and equipment in the affected schools in this Governorate. This assistance was designed because of the significant human and material damage caused by the floods that affected a dozen cities. The resources provided by the Bank Group aim to restore hope to the victims of bad weather and to mitigate the socio-economic impact, particularly in the education sector. Thus, Bank Group support will focus on four seriously affected schools and aim to make these institutions more welcoming and resilient to future climate hazards. The assistance is structured around two components, namely: (i) support for the restoration of school infrastructures and (ii) capacity building for resilience to natural and climatic risks.
The objective of this emergency aid operation is to contribute to the upgrading of school infrastructure and to allow a rapid resumption of teaching / learning in schools affected by the recent bad weather in the Governorate of Nabeul.
The main beneficiaries of the project are: students from affected institutions; teachers and parents of students as well as other actors of the Tunisian education system.
