The Three Regions Health Study focuses on district level. The study provides Tanzania with a reliable database for implementing health sector reforms. More specifically it assisted Government in prioritizing infrastructure rehabilitation, defining human resource development needs and strengthening institutional capacity. The main activity of the study is the identification of the priority areas within Tanzania’s Health Sector Reform Programme. This involves the elaboration of Action Plans to improve access to quality health care by documenting realistic and sustainable inputs required for the attainment of national health development objectives. The final outcome was to be a Plan of Action presented as a phased implementation schedule detailing a number of project packages for possible funding by donors in accordance with the strategy of the Health Sector Reforms.
The objective of the study is to prepare an action plan for Mara, Mtwara and Tabora regions, with a view to contributing to Government’s understanding of how to improve health conditions in Tanzania. The expected outcome is an Action Plan presented as a phased implementation scheduling a number of project packages for possible funding by donors in accordance with the strategy of the Health Sector Reforms.
The intended beneficiary is the government which would use the findings of the study as input into future projects.
