The Rural Income and Employment Opportunities Project (RIEEP) is a contribution to reducing rural poverty in Uganda. It aims to provide more affordable credit services to 1.4 million poor farmers (50% of whom are women) and assist them in starting a business. The total cost of RIEEP is estimated at UA 12.01 million. The project has two components: credit services and institutional and business start-up services.
The objective of the project is to facilitate access to and use of credit institutions and business creation at affordable prices for 1.4 million poor farmers in Uganda.
The beneficiaries of the project are the rural populations of all districts of the country. It specifically targets 1.4 million farmers, 50% of whom are women without access to credit institutions.
