The institutional support project aims to prepare Uganda Electricity Board (UEB) for the challenge of the on-going massive rehabilitation, the future expansion and introduction of new technology. Specifically the project aims at (i) strengthening the institutional capacity of UEB by providing technical assistants, (ii) on the job-training of local UEB personnel and (iii) identifying cost-effective power projects through a system planning and loss reduction study. This institution building project will provide four experts experienced in a modern supply industry to work as line managers and to train UEB local staff. The system planning and loss reduction study is expected to identify system betterment projects which the Bank Group may consider financing in the future. The project consists of four components, viz : a) Technical assistance comprising 4 externally recruited experts (viz MIS, Commercial, Finance, and Corporate Planning Managers); b) Staff Training c) Procurement of Motor vehicles and office equipment; and d) Distribution System planning and loss reduction study.
The project aims to strengthen UEB's operations and prepare it for the challenge of the on-going massive rehabilitation in Uganda. Specifically, the project aims at (a) strengthening the institutional capacity of UEB by providing technical assistants, and procurement of vehicles and office/computing equipment; (b) on-the-job training of local UEB personnel and (c) identifying cost-effective power projects through a system planning and loss reduction study.
This project will benefit the Uganda Electricity Board (UEB) and will go a long way in strengthening and thereby making it a more efficient institution.
