The Mano River Union Roads Development and Transport Facilitation programme within the (MRU/RDTFP) concerns the upgrading to bitumen standard of 276.35 km of roads in eastern Guinea, West and SouthWest Cote d’Ivoire and eastern Liberia.
The overall objective of the Programme is to boost the post-conflict economic recovery of the MRU area by improving road infrastructure and promoting intra-community trade. Specifically, the programme seeks to improve transport conditions on the roads concerned in order to reduce transport costs, facilitate the free movement of persons and goods between the three countries and improve the living conditions of programme area communities.
The programme will benefit road users, transporters, farmers, the programme area population of 2.83 million inhabitants and especially the disadvantaged groups (women and children), which constitute the greater majority.
