The present intervention concerns Angololo Multipurpose Water Resources Development Project. It aims to improve both countries’ (Kenya and Uganda) socioeconomic development. The project includes the following three components: (i) stakeholders Engagement; (ii) project preparation studies (includes feasibility studies, detailed design, tender documents and independent ESIA, and RAP); and (iii) project Management and Monitoring & Evaluation.
The principal objective of this project is to sustainably improve both countries’ socioeconomic development through water resources development and management, encompassing flood mitigation, irrigation, electricity generation, fisheries development, and water supply. The project’s specific objectives are to: (i) complete the technical, economic, financial and institutional feasibility studies of the project so as to ensure its viability; (ii) complete an Environmental and Social Impact- Assessment and a Resettlement Action Plan for the project; (iii) complete the tender design of the project and preparation of tender documentation for its construction once proven to be economically viable; and (iv) mobilize financing from donors for project implementation.
The final beneficiaries of the project are the inhabitants of both countries (Kenya and Uganda).
