The project aims at establishing high reliability telecommunications links of sufficient capacity between the countries, replacing the present systems, which are highly unreliable and cannot meet the demand, thereby interconnecting the national telecommunications network in the three countries. It also aims at modernizing the existing telecommunications services along these inter-regional link by replacing old equipment with new of greater capacity and extend these services to areas that at present have no telecommunications services. The project will also allow subscriber trunk dialling to be introduced and facilitate the access to the International telecommunications network.
