The proposed project is the first Line of Credit to Preferential Trade Area for Eastern and Southern African States (PTA) Bank. It is to assist the PTA Bank in its efforts to promote small and medium scale enterprises in the PTA sub-region. The Bank has already an institutional support grant to both the PTA Secretariat and the PTA Bank. This Line of Credit will be utilized for the acquisition of necessary capital goods, management and technical expertise to produce goods and services. The sub-projects financed will generate employment, earn or save foreign exchange and increased managerial and technical skills in the member countries of the PTA Bank.
The objective is to provide foreign exchange for projects in all sectors of the economies of PTA Bank member countries with a view to promote the small and medium scale enterprises. It is also calls for enhancing the role of the PTA Bank in financing sub-projects in its member states.
The project’s beneficiaries are the small and medium scale enterprises and the member countries of the PTA Bank.
