Project General Description

The initiative of the Fund for the Development and Financing of the Transport and Energy Sectors (FODETE) is a response to the major challenges facing the transport and energy sectors in the ECOWAS - Economic Community of West African States area. The establishment of FODETE is in perfect harmony with the will of West African leaders to provide themselves with an effective instrument to reduce the huge backlog of modern and quality infrastructure in West Africa. The availability of such infrastructure will enable the West African economy to be more competitive and better integrated into the global economic system. Through this intervention, the AfDB Group intends to support the implementation of preparatory activities for the creation of FODETE. These activities are grouped into five (5) essential actions, namely: (i) conducting a feasibility study on the project to create FODETE; (ii) organizing workshops to validate the feasibility study reports; (iii) project coordination and management activities; (iv) communication and sensitization component; and (v) auditing the study's accounts.
