The proposed project in support of the African Capacity Building Foundation's (ACBF) Third Medium Term Strategic Plan (MTSP III) - Phase II builds on previous projects supported by the African Development Fund (ADF) for countries and regional institutions eligible for its resources. The project is financed by an ADF Regional Public Goods grant of UA 7 million over two years. It will contribute to the improvement of a wide range of areas relevant to Africa's regional integration and participation in global trade. The project aims at improving the quality and availability of human resources, strengthening organizational arrangements and institutional policy development, which are critical for the transformation of African economies. It is structured around two main lines of intervention. The first focuses on improving the formulation and implementation of economic and financial integration policies for the transformation of Africa. And the second axis consists of improving intra-regional trade and the share of African economies in world trade.
The overall objective of the project is to work towards effective governance for inclusive growth and sustainable development in Africa. The specific objective is to strengthen the capacities of Regional Member Countries (RMCs) to better formulate policies and enable them to advance their transformation agenda.
The project's target groups include economic and management institutions in Regional Member Countries (RMCs), Regional Economic Communities (RECs), African civil servants, professionals and academics, parliamentarians and their networks, civil society organizations and staff of ACBF and other regional organizations. The projects will benefit Regional Member Countries (RMCs), Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and other regional institutions as follows: (i) directly, through ACBF's capacity building programs for RMCs, RECs and non-state institutions; and (ii) indirectly, through ACBF's knowledge sharing programs and access to policy documents, high-level fora and relevant guidelines, practices and procedures disseminated by ACBF or other partners.
