The technical Assistance for Zambian Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) aims to enhance the capacities of both financial and non-financial service providers to offer appropriate services to a previously underserved and mainly indigenous SME sector. Enhancing capacities of SMEs, as well as improving their access to finance contributes to wealth, job creation and economic diversification. The Project consists of the following components: (a) Provision of technical assistance to zanaco Bank and Investrust Bank to enable them assess and improve delivery of SME financial products and services targeted af SMEs; (b) Training of at least thirty (30) staff on loan assessment, monitoring and management; (c) Capacity building of about fifteen (15) core business development, service providers (BDSPs) and five (5) sectoral associations; and (d) capacity building to about fifty-to-sixty (50 to 60) sectoral SMEs from the manufacturing, tourism, construction, and financial sectors to enable them manage their growth, increase productivity and profitability and effectively engage financial support to facilitate their growth.
The objective of the projet is to support the growth and development of the Small and Medium Enterprises in Zambia.
The technical assistance is for participating banks and their staff. In addition, core business development service providers and sectoral business associations, as well as SME and micro-enterprise managers, should benefit from this project.
