Project General Description

The study of the national transport sector master plan was designed as part of the new national transport policy and consistent with Zimbabwe's medium-term plan and its socio-economic transformation agenda. This study aims to analyze the characteristics and specificities of transport demand generated by the envisaged national development, which includes natural resource development, community access, regional and national connectivity, and scenario projections. the most plausible for the next twenty years. The study includes: a) consultancy services for the development of the master plan and audit activities, as well as b) support and coordination of the study. The total estimated cost of this study is UA 0.97 million. It is co-financed by ADF with a grant of UA 0.88 million (90% of the total allocation) and counterpart funding of UA 0.09 million (10% of the total). by the Government of Zimbabwe (GoZ). The outcome of the intervention will lay the foundation for sustainable development of the transport sector to boost economic growth and reduce poverty. It will be implemented over a period of 28 months.

Project Objectives

The objective of the study is to provide the government with a comprehensive national transportation sector master plan, with a strategic framework and an investment plan, for the sustainable development of transportation infrastructure and services. support growth and job creation with green and inclusive growth.

Beneficiaries

The direct beneficiary of the study is the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development (MOTID), as the results of the national transport sector master plan will help it to plan interventions in this sector in an efficient way to endow the country with means of transport of goods and services that are efficient and sustainable. The entire population of Zimbabwe and transit transport will benefit from the reduced cost of moving goods, people and services as a result of improved transport infrastructure in the country as a result of the implementation of the plan's recommendations. director of the transport sector.
