The Youth and Tourism Promotion Project (YTEP) is designed to expand young people's access to employment and finance to promote entrepreneurship and the development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), with a particular focus on tourism. More specifically, the operation should build the capacity of key ministries and key stakeholders working to promote youth employment. In addition, it will contribute to the implementation of the Bank's 2013-2022 Strategy, supporting skills development, private sector development, gender equality and fragile state development. The total cost of the project is estimated at UA 3.02 million. Its components are as follows; (i) upgrading youth skills and improving their access to information and finance (UA 0.9 million); (ii) creating an environment conducive to the development of tourism and youth enterprises; and (iii) support for project management.
The objective of the project is to contribute to the reduction of poverty and youth unemployment, by creating a more conducive environment for the promotion of youth and tourism.
The direct beneficiaries of the project will be mainly: (i) potential unemployed young employers from all 72 districts of the country, including women, who will be trained in business administration and entrepreneurship, and who will have access to information on the employment and financing of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs); (ii) selected ministries for youth, SMEs and tourism, whose capacity and access to information will be strengthened to improve policy and strategy development.
